Smart Subsea Solutions were contracted on behalf of Equion Energia Limited to provide geotechnical engineering expertise and commercial management of their geotechnical site investigation at Mapale 1 and Mapale 2 locations. Equion Energia Limited awarded the contract for services as part of the future development plans of these fields and the subsequent drilling activities of the jack up Offshore Mischief.
The development is to consist of a number of subsea wells, which will supply gas to a FLNG via a series of seabed manifolds, flowlines and risers.
The FUGRO utilised the four point moored RV Seaprobe to perform the drilling, sampling and in situ testing comprising 100m geotechnical boreholes and 250m boreholes for the purpose of shallow gas detection. An onboard remotely operated vehicle (ROV) was deployed during all drilling operations, to observe and monitor when necessary, any gas events to ensure safety of operations at all times.
Smart Subsea Solutions involvement and input to the project ensured that all activities were conducted in a safe and cost effective way without adverse effect to the environment.
