Project Name: ETAP PW Caisson Discharge Assessment August 2012
Project Location: North Sea, United Kingdom

The ETAP field is located 240km north east of Aberdeen, Blocks 22/24 and 23/24 in the UK sector of the Central North Sea.  Central Processing Facility (CPF) is located over Marnok field and consists of two bridge linked fixed steel platforms – Production Drilling and Riser (PDR) and Quarters and Utilities (QU).

Smart Subsea Solutions were contracted through and worked in conjunction with Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants to BP to generate a technical note considering modification to the produced water caisson on PDR Platform.  The technical note considered two options of modification to a produced water caisson which would result in produced water being discharged at a depth with the least impact to the environment.

The technical note evaluated various methods to modify the existing caisson and considered topside support, DSV setup and diving in and around the PDR Platform.  Having drawn conclusions as to the most suitable method of modification subsea, the technical note considered access to the worksite and evaluated existing restrictions and anomalies associated with the planned works.

Project schedules were produced considering various methods of modification which would help to determine overall project duration and therefore cost implications to BP.
