The Strathspey field is located in UK North Sea block 3/4a approximately 176km north east of Sumburgh, in a water depth of 136.5m. The field has been developed via a subsea manifold facility producing to the Ninian Central Platform (NCP) some 15km away. The main Strathspey manifold structure houses production and service pipework loops along with associated pipe isolations and hydraulic actuated valve works.
Having previously provided client representation offshore during a campaign to identify hydraulic leaks, Smart Subsea Solutions were contract on behalf of Maersk Oil to define the scope of requirements and engineering to perform leak rectification.
The work included the replacement of a series of hydraulic jumpers as well assisting with the development and installation of a Linear Valve Override Tool which would bypass the existing hydraulic control system whilst retaining normal functionality topsides. All known hydraulic leaks at Strathspey were successfully repaired utilising the DSV Seven Atlantic.
