Project Description

Project Name: Hudson Pigging Support April 2012
Project Location: North Sea, United Kingdom

Hudson Field is located approximately 11km West of the TAQA Bratani operated Tern Alpha platform in Block 210/24 of the North Sea in a water depth of approximately 160m. It is tied back to Tern Alpha through a manifold structure with production being controlled by the platform.

Smart Subsea Solutions were contracted through and worked in conjunction with Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants to Dana Petroleum to manage the development of the onshore campaign, through the development of procedures and management of subcontractors leading up to the offshore campaign at Hudson.

Smart Subsea Solutions provided Client Representation on board the DSV Acergy Osprey during April 2012. The offshore campaign consisted primarily of pigging support to the operations being conducted on the Tern Platform as well as performing coating removal on subsea flowlines. This was to be performed in advance of subsea UT inspections which would help determine the integrity of flowlines which as a result would allow Dana Petroleum to understand an impact on the overall field life at Hudson. Other work included performing HP and LP leak detection and repair as well as Power Channel fault finding investigations and repair prior to pressure transducer change out.

Smart Subsea Solutions ensured that diving procedures were followed and where necessary managed appropriately through the Management of Change Process. A key responsibility was to liaise with the Tern Platform to ensure that suitable permits were in place to allow for safe subsea operations.
